GOLIATH: A Decentralized Framework for Data Collection in Intelligent Transportation Systems

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs) technology has advanced during the past years, and it is now used for several applications that require vehicles to exchange real-time data, such as in traffic information management. Traditionally, road been collected using on-site sensors. However, crowd-sourcing from onboard sensors or smartphones become a viable alternative. State-of-the-art solutions currently follow centralized model where only service provider complete access data represent single point of failure trust. In this paper, we propose GOLIATH , blockchain-based decentralized framework runs on In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) system collect exchanged between network’s participants. Our approach mitigates limitations existing by guaranteeing trusted collection exchange, fully exploiting intrinsic distributed nature vehicles.
